“Calanque with orange sky”, panoramic window for an immobile journey.
“Calanque with orange sky” is a painting by the contemporary artist Clotilde Philipon. The panoramic format of the painting lends itself particularly to the treatment of the maritime landscape. The composition of the painting, its perspective lines towards a calm horizon, give it fullness and balance.
Moreover, if considered in isolation, the different parts of the painting bring together two distinct pictorial worlds. On the left, the stone cliff, a rocky assemblage in which the warm light of the end of the day plays, resembles an abstract painting with vertical energy. The shades of the piles of the cliff are echoed more soberly on the right. In the centre, horizontality dominates: the beach, the waves, the horizon call the eye towards a clear mass in the distance: clouds? an island? In the foreground, a red and white construction, between the buoy and the lighthouse, seems to indicate the direction: everything converges towards the mystery of the distance and invites contemplation.
Finally, the geometry of a red band underlining the beach contrasts with the vertical organic forms and modernises the painting.
“Calanque with orange sky”, a luminous painting that echoes travels and memories. We imagine this painting alone on a wall, for an optimal contemplation, a window towards your travel dreams.
