“Paris – 19” is a work on paper in Indian ink by Duytter. The city of love and the energy that emanates from it has always seduced collectors and inspired artists.

The composition, the framing, the light, the banality of an urban scene taken “on the spot” and fixed for eternity, everything in Duytter’s washes is reminiscent of the photographic aesthetic. The scene is strikingly real, the passer-by on the left attracted by a shop window and about to leave the frame…

And yet, if you look closely, each line remains in the rough, far from photographic precision.

It is precisely this duality that makes Duytter’s paintings so charming, like “Paris – 19”.
