“Porquerolles Interlacing” is a contemporary black and white photograph by José Nicolas. It is a silver print in a limited edition of 30 copies.

As part of a report on the island of Porquerolles, off the coast of Hyères, José Nicolas focused on the local flora and in particular on the plant interlacing formed by the Mediterranean bushes, dried out and beaten by the sea winds.

Natural sculptures of trees in resistance, sometimes puny, twisted, confronted with the force of the elements. Tortured and graphic lines with a rough aestheticism.
