“Rotunda” is a drawing by Amandine Maria.

In her “Maps on foot”, Amandine Maria multiplies the points of view as she walks, and to discover the main fountain of Aix “La Rotonde”, what better way than to walk around it…

In “Rotunda” the artist also duplicates the work over and over again, as if she couldn’t take her eyes off it as she wandered. It is indeed amusing to note this tendency of visitors to walk around the emblematic monument of the city of Aix-en-Provence, to photograph it again and again, because all the backgrounds offer an aesthetic or architectural interest: the plane trees, the warm ochre buildings, the Carrousel Paul Cézanne (top left of the drawing) which is part of the urban heritage, and all these small details which make up the soul of the city.
