“Street Léon Gambetta – Lille” is an acrylic work on canvas by Duytter.

In his paintings as in his washes, Duytter’s work is reminiscent of photographic aesthetics.

One can observe the framing, the perspective, the composition, the light, the banality of an urban scene taken “on the spot” and fixed for eternity.

Appreciate the sky washed after the rain, the end of the day rays that light up the brick facades at the top of the picture in pink, the puddles, the reflections…

And yet, if you look closely, each line remains in a rough state, far from the precision of a photograph.

It is precisely this coexistence that makes Duytter’s paintings so attractive.
